    The Yolking Around Patches Release

    May 1st, 2022

    As we started to test the Yolking Around Expansion Pack in production, we started to notice a new bugs. These have been patched along with another round of interface enhancements.

    • Made it easier to navigate from lobbies to games and games to lobbies, self kick can now be preformed in the lobby only
    • Patched a bug where the Hot Potato would not trigger the explosion countdown
    • Patched a bug where the Favor Gator was unplayable (invalid callback error)
    • Patched a bug where the Draw from the Bottom pulled from the draw deck randomly
    • Patched a bug where the explosion countdown would glitch when a defuse card was clicked
    • Patched a bug where the host start games message would appear on the player game suspension popup

    The Nathanael Release

    April 30th, 2022

    Squashed a couple bugs and added a few enhancements to improve overall gameplay. At this point, all issues directly impacting Lobby/Game usage should be patched. We'll keep our eye out for new problems.

    • Tweaked the game interface padding to be more friendly toward mobile devices
    • Patched a bug where players would not be redirected to games after starting the lobby
    • Patched a bug where the slug checker on the home page was case-sensitive
    • Patched a bug where games would disappear from the user portal page after 24 hours
    • Tweaked the padding on the home page hero section, packs description page updates
    • Upgraded internal documentation on the backend to be in line with the v2.0.2 release

    The Chicken or the Egg Release

    After releasing v2.0.0, we quickly found a ton of bugs and clear enhancements to be made after the platform was pushed to production. We've logged over 20 issues to be patched/updated over the next couple weeks, ranked by priority. Most of the remaining "bugs" do not impact a majority of users.

    • Tweaked the packs page on the user portal to be more mobile friendly
    • Patched a bug where Font Awesome icons were not loading on the frontend
    • Patched a bug where the lobby start algorithm relied on active and disabled (kicked) players, instead of just active players
    • Patched a bug where the games page on the user portal would log the same game multiple times
    • Patched a bug where the backend Discord bot did not push updates to the target channel
    • Upgraded the purge lobbies algorithm to smartly delete unused lobbies/games dynamically

    The Lobby Release

    We've been working overtime behind-the-scenes to completely rework the foundation supporting Exploding Chickens. We hope these changes will transform our game into a more capable and powerful platform that can stand the test of time.

    • Support for lobbies! 100's of players can now play together, anywhere
    • User registration system to save profile defaults, games, and purchase Expansion Packs
    • Tons of new host options: auto play timeout, room size, grouping method, remove host from games
    • Favor framework re-built to be more intuitive and clear

    • Full test coverage over the entire codebase, used to catch issues before they happen

    The Feedback Release

    The Profane Release

    • Added a nickname profanity filter
    • Added an option for spectators to join game as game finishes
    • Fixed an issue where the Draw from the Bottom card would not update the players' UI properly
    • Fixed an issue where the Scrambled Eggs card would do absolutely nothing (oops)
    • Added 2 more defuse cards to the "Yolking Around" pack to allow for a max of 7 players

    We've been working extremely hard to bring a brand new expansion pack to Exploding Chickens, and here it is. From the diabolical "Favor Gator" to the more simplistic "Draw from the Bottom", these new cards turn things up a notch. Check out the new pack by starting a game and navigating to the game sidebar. There you can import the expansion pack (as well as any more we add in the future). We really hope you enjoy the new tactics that this pack brings to the game.
